Thursday 30th January saw the launch of our art club. We made decorations for the Lunar New Year and put them on a flower tree in the Lunch Club lounge for today’s diners to enjoy. We used the Year of the Snake as a theme and dangled snakes and lanterns off the tree.
Yesterday we had three people and we hoping to bring the numbers up. There is plenty of tea and our Duke of Edinburgh Awards volunteer brought cookies yesterday too.
Next week we are looking at ethnic patterns and designs. It’s National Sami Day and we were looking at the bright colours and shapes of traditional costume. One of the participants suggested we decorate canvas shopping bags in a ‘bright shapes and colours’ style (we couldn’t remember if there was a word for this – we thought Mondrian or Kandinsky).
