On Wednesday 16 April the Lunch Club members enjoyed a three-course special Easter Lunch, with Spring Vegetable Soup created by CEO Naomi, roast lamb and Banana Cake baked by Caretaker Stuart. A joint effort all round and we got great feedback about all three courses! We were lucky too to welcome, the Worshipful Mayor of Merton, Councillor Slawek Szczepanski, who joined us for the event and chatted to all of the diners.
With the Easter Bank Holiday in the middle, we came back and celebrated St George’s Day (and Shakespeare’s Birthday) a week later on 23 April, with many of the Lunch Clubbers dressed in symbolic red and white. The menu was traditional pie, mash, peas and liquor from our friends at the Pie and Mash shop in Croydon, followed by a Bumper St George’s Bingo session called by our dear friend and volunteer, Colin.
