We have worked hard this summer to raise extra cash for two trips for the members of our lunch club for older people day trips to Eastbourne and to Wisley RHS. Christine has been running raffles and sales since July to raise the extra funds to subsidise these two trips. And on Friday 30th August we ran a second-hand stall at the market to raise the final chunk.
Lunch Clubbers themselves paid for part of the trip in the price of their tickets and we got good deals from our friends at Merton Community Transport. The tickets for Wisley RHS were obtained free of charge under their generous community groups scheme – thank you very much Wisley!
The trip to Eastbourne was eventful for a number of travel related reasons but we are pleased to say that everyone arrived and returned home safe and sound even if the day proved to be a little longer than they had anticipated. We saw the sea, fish and chips, it didn’t rain and no one got lost – what more could we ask for?!
Wisley charmed the socks off us all! It was interesting and beautiful and everyone who visited wanted to go back again. The community tickets scheme was a real bonus and we highly recommend the whole day out.
