This week, we are introducing our Advice Worker, Odette Ukandu (pictured on the right).

Odette has a qualification in Advice, Information and Guidance, Level 3, as well as Level 2 Youth Work.

She has worked with our partners Media Management London, helping them to run the office, and currently provides supervision and mentoring for students at the Levy Foundation Alternative Provisions service also based in the New Horizon Centre.

Odette is an excellent cook, with a level 2 in Food Hygiene and has provided a Caribbean Feast for our Raising Stars and Pollards PASS young people’s football teams.

In her current role, Odette provides practical help to local people from her base in the New Horizon Centre in such matters as welfare benefits, sickness benefits, housing, health and wellbeing and family support. Here is Odette’s timetable.


  • Mon 9am-4pm (pre-booked appointments)
  • Tues 9am-4pm (pre-booked appointments)
  • Weds 2-4pm (home visits by arrangement)
  • Fri 9-4pm drop in/ initial discussions & assessment of support needed.

Odette will routinely be providing support with the following:

  • Taxicard applications
  • Bus pass applications
  • Blue Badge applications
  • Wimbledon Guild small grant applications
  • Other possible small grant applications where applicable
  • Help setting up UC online accounts
  • Helping with online utilities’ accounts
  • Helping with online LB Merton Council tax accounts
  • Setting up and using Housing Bidding accounts
