Mitcham Hedgehog Project are raising funds for Mitcham Common’s endangered hedgehogs. They have raised 51% of their target goal with 15 days to go!
They say:
We are on a mission to raise awareness about the decline of hedgehogs and unite our local community to take part in meaningful conservation efforts for the hedgehogs that call Mitcham their home.
In 2020, hedgehogs were classified as ‘vulnerable to extinction’ on the UK Red List for Mammals. The State of Britain’s Hedgehog Report 2022 indicated that there may be a stable population of hedgehogs in urban areas that could be recovering. This emphasizes the importance of local actions to secure the future of hedgehogs. We are eager to support the hedgehogs that reside in Mitcham.
